Dining room switcheroo

Typical, I know, but shortly after bringing the Docksta table home, I realized the functionality wasn't exactly what I'd hoped for.

The look was perfect, but it kind of wobbled (due to the pedestal base, I guess) and it just wasn't big enough to accommodate more than four people, which isn't exactly ideal.

So the hunt began, and I ended up with a great dining table and chairs from Craigslist.  It came with two leaves, and can expand to double its size.  The chairs are in great shape, but the fabric on the cushions has seen better days.  My mom suggested little chair skirt slipcovers, and she's right - they'd be perfect!

Let the fabric search begin...!

New Master Plan (ha HA!)

Oh yes, I said it.

Sooo the "master" bedroom progress has been creeping along at a snails pace since we moved in, but there have been some fairly significant developments as of late.

We have these dormer windows in both bedrooms upstairs.  The one in the guest room actually looks pretty cute right now:

And until recently, the dormer in our room looked quite pitiful and neglected.

But not anymore!

My sweet and talented brother made us the window seat for Christmas - the lid lifts up for tons of storage inside.  I'm so excited to deck it out like some of these beauties.

(Although I am clearly lacking the beautiful arched window and even more stunning view,
I think I want a cushion like this one - almost sack-like, you know?)

(Also planning on adding a sconce to one side, like this.)

It's really the only appropriate option for the space, I think.  Anyways, I'm also working on another part of the plan:

Part of a Sneak Peak from D*S, I think
I love this idea of trimming out the room with paint, and since we have some really interesting architecture in our bedroom, it will  keep it from feeling like a big beige box.   I'm off to stock up on blue tape!

High style book storage

Fitting that my dad (the bibliophile) sent me the links to these awesome book cases!  Numero uno:

LOVE this idea so much!  It's modular, so I suppose you could spell anything you like - oh the possibilities....

And second:

Sweeeet.  Thanks Dad!
